*** [Optional Anecdote: follows that can be added as part of review or separate article; we have personally found that in this niche this converts really well]

I am now 44 years old and it seems so long ago when I had my first baby 16 years ago. I believe my getting pregnant was a miracle then having been married for 5 years. First, when I was 13 years old I was diagnosed with acute Anemia wherein I had longer periods than the normal. I had hormonal inbalances and finally I was told that it will be almost impossible for me to have any babies. Worst I may not have any babies at all.

I got worried if I should ever try and have babies. Every time I heard women around me say that the essence of being a woman is being a mother, it got on my nerves. I told myself I will never get married so no one will ask why I am not getting pregnant. You know how it is for us women. What if our husbands leave us because we cannot bear them children? What if after waiting for many years we manage to give birth but something is wrong with our babies? When all women are worrying about how to get pregnant, I was busy worrying if I could ever have a child or even if I will have one, will he or she be healthy and normal?

To make the long story short, I got married at the age of 23. I told my husband that we may not have babies because of some female health issues. I was lucky to have a husband who understood my situation. Five years of being married and I started craving to get pregnant, but that little voice said, “You’ll never have a child!” But I kept on hoping. I kept on reading about being pregnant. I bought books, magazines, wishing somehow I would find answers or even just a little hope to get pregnant. During those times, we didn’t have the internet.

One Sunday, while I was cooking lunch I felt something in my tummy. I told my husband that something is wrong so though it was a Sunday, he rushed me to our family doctor. The doctor wasn’t of much help as he gave us a recommendation letter to a specialist so I could have a thorough check up. I was restless the whole day and I was not able to sleep that night.

The following morning, I was up early to see the doctor. I was really worried. So, the specialist had me go through a series of tests and when the results came out he was all smiles and told me I was pregnant.

I couldn’t believe what I just heard and I asked him to repeat what he just said. I was crying with joy. Here I was without even trying to get pregnant after 5 long years of marriage. Although I already gave up the idea of getting pregnant that little hope stirred. My husband and I were blessed with a baby girl who’s all grown up now at 16 but I never got pregnant again.

Now that I am 44, I was thinking that I want another baby. Maybe it’s asking too much but there’s nothing wrong with wanting to have another child so late. I thought maybe this time with all the technology of today it will be much easier than before. I have heard of stories about women who wanted to get pregnant and succeeded. This had kept my determination going strong.

I told this to my best friend who is the same age and she told me there is a secret formula but it’s not all about following a woman’s ovulation period. She then gave me a book called The Getting Pregnant Bible.

I was skeptical but she told me every woman’s body is different. What may be good for another may not be good for you. So it was imperative I read it.

In no time, we got blessed again with the good news at MY age. Even my 16 year who is used to being the only child was ecstatic. I owe it all to the Getting Pregnant Bible. Who says you can’t get pregnant as get older? I’m walking living proof.
